Consultancy services
The Basel Institute on Governance is committed to pursue activities with high impact potential backed on solid research to improve health governance where it matters most. For this reason the research carried out by our health team is geared towards generating methodological tools with empirical applicability. The methods and concepts developed through our research have proven effective in delivering meaningful governance assessments relating to diverse aspects of health systems’ performance.
Consultancy services available from the Institute in the health sector are distinctive from those offered by other organizations in that our models are designed to be flexible to adapt to different local contexts and peculiarities, with emphasis on underlying power and influence factors underpinning governance risks. This approach has the potential to generate insights and recommendations that are based not only on a formal assessment of regulatory frameworks but also on political feasibility based on detailed stakeholder analysis.
One recent example has been a consultancy project commissioned by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) to conduct an assessment of corruption risks in the Ugandan public sector medicine supply chain.
