Financial investigations and asset recovery
Online course for public-sector practitioners
The Basel Institute’s International Centre for Asset Recovery (ICAR) offers a five-day online training course on financial investigations and asset recovery for individual practitioners from law enforcement and other public-sector agencies.
Designed for practitioners working on real cases, this hands-on course builds the core skills needed to identify, trace and recover criminal assets. Participants work through a realistic investigation, applying practical techniques used in day-to-day investigative work.
Working in teams, participants follow financial leads across jurisdictions, analyse financial flows, gather and assess evidence using open-source intelligence, conduct interviews and interpret financial and supporting documentation.
The course places a strong emphasis on operational approaches to financial investigation, including developing investigative strategies, coordinating with domestic and international counterparts and overcoming common challenges in cross-border asset tracing.
Based on ICAR’s flagship financial investigations and asset recovery training programme, delivered to government agencies in dozens of countries worldwide, this course is now available as an open enrolment offering for individual practitioners. It can also be delivered as a tailored, private course for agencies and groups.
